Fear and Licking in S.B.

Bathtime! For the second time in under a week, Fynn has sported the ever-popular "Wet Rat" look, which is followed by "Glare of Death" when I laugh at him, and then morphs into the "Porcupine", which is when the fur goes in little clumpy spikes all over his body.

You see, this is what happens when someone decides to run away when we are playing outside and he decides to run away from me and go under the house where all the nasties live. Icky! Dirty! Spider webs! and ... heaven forbid after all this rain, but I found... brace yourselves... a flea! Say it with me: Eeeeuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! Yuuuuck! Now with the amount of licking, licking, and licking going on here, it is seriously amazing that he has any fur left. I read somewhere that cats can get a sort of kitty Obsessive-Compulsive licking disorder, for which they have some sort of feline Prozac - how funny is that? So is it like, meow?meow?meow?meow?meow?meow?meow?meow?meow?meow?
"meow?meow?meow?meow?...mrowrrrrrr" (the mrowrrrrr at the end is cat for, "oh crap, now I've got to start all over again!" I don't think he's got the OCD, but he's definitely a lick-aholic. So far, so good, no hairballs.

The best part of the lick-aholicism is that if I were to stick my hand anywhere in that general vicinity, he will totally start licking it. Every morning we end up sleeping together, usually his feet draped over my shoulder so that he can be my extra-warm pillow. Today we both opened our eyes at the same time, slowly, and blinked at each other. There was a moment where I'm sure we were both thinking the same thing - "Mmmmgaaaah... morning breath...oh well, we love each other.." I wrapped the arm I had under my pillow over to rub his nose, savoring the smell of clean fur and warm sleepy animal. Fynn likes to rub heads with us by way of greeting (when he's not giving us love bites, that is), S. has dubbed this "nubs", which has become another one of his myriads of nicknames.

Some mornings as we lay in bed all in a warm heap, before tea, or late at night when I'm reading to S. before we go to sleep, I think to myself, "this is as good as it gets, baby!" So here's to enjoying the small moments in your day. Purrrrrrr!

Awwww, how cute. Your stories of Fynn always make me wish I wasn't allergic to cats. I'd have one if I wasn't going to get asthma, itchy watery eyes, sneezing, and wheezing. :(

Thank you - he's much cuter when dry, I must say. Chiada - I wish you (and Jen) weren't allergic either, I always feel like such a bad friend when you guys start hacking/sniffing/wheezing/etc. Even thought its no one's fault, I feel like its something I've done. Isn't that silly?

Yes, that's totally silly.
